Looney Deals

Crazy 8, Gymboree's newest brand is a store to be reckoned with. They carry everything from cool graphic tees, chic little outfits, to trendy head gear. All for rock bottom prices. I walked out of the store with a bag full of clothes and spent only $45 dollars. In return, Crazy 8 gave me $20 in crazy cash to spend during a certain period. Talk about looney deals.

Right now in the August issue of Parenting magazine you get a dirt cheap coupon code deal were you can received an extra 20% off your entire purchase in stores and online along with free shipping. Offer is good until Aug 30. Bananas!

Pink Chicken Does It Again

I'm swoon over hills for Pink Chicken's tunic style paisley get up. It's absolutely perfect for Fall. It definitely hollers autumn colors, landscape, and beauty. You can pre-order your dress now at Arte Bebe and make sure your little gal is styling by August.

Metallic UGGs go hard

The mate and I were searching the Internet for Metallic UGGs toddler 6, and we stubbled upon theses pennies. I absolutely love the copper shine to the boots, it's exactly the look I was going for. However the story saddens because the smallest size is a 10 toddler. I suppose my little one is going to have to wait for her first pair of Metallics. You can get your size here.

Hotdoggin' It for 86 years

To celebrate, James Coney Island is offering 86 cent chili dogs (cheese is extra) on July 23.
All day, No limit, Dine in or Take Out. Sounds like a deal, but also a mean stomachache.

Arepas!

Houston's annual Columbian Festival is taking place July 19 at down town's City Hall. Presale tickets are $10.00, but if you're a rebel and want to get your tickets at the door expect to pay $5.00 more. Kids 10 and under get in free.

Needless to say the sun will be scorching hot so coat yourself with sunscreen, sneak in plenty of water bottles, and enjoy the scene of great Columbian music, food, and arts/crafts. Festival hours are from 12pm-10pm

Posh Living

This modish dollhouse is now on sale at MoMa for $89.95. I wish I had such lavish living for my dolls. It comes with skylight roofing along with transparent paneling. Furniture and dolls are sold separately.

Ringling Bros= spectacular x Reliant Center=Fail

The show was insanely entertaining my 2o month old and I had a riot. However, before all the smiles and amazement came into play, I was running amuck the stadium trying to find my seat with absolutely no help from Reliant Center employees.

I couldn't believe the 5 different employees I asked for help couldn't tell me where my section was. Nuts. By the time I found my seat/section I was sweating up a storm and almost missed the opening act. If you're heading that way be sure to pack your patience.

Something Crafty

The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is having an opening reception for their two latest exhibits: Challenge VII: dysFUNctional, and Challenging Textile Traditions tonight beginning at 5:30-8:00p.m. The two exhibitions challenge the traditional practice of wood, textiles, and other materials while beating the dream to destruction and the unexpected. Sounds like fun for the entire family, no bankroll needed.

Leaf Silhouette Portrait

Looks difficult, but actually, it's not. This is a fun and creative project to partake with your children. It will make a fantastical greeting card, or simply a charming portrait of someone dear just for you. To make your own organic portrait visit Photojojo and see everything you need.

"Greatness inspires envy, envy engenders spite, spite spawns lies." -Tom Riddle

I've been waiting patiently for the release of Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, and It's finally here!

Unfortunately I will not be able to see it today, being that we have a date with the circus. Why does two awesome events have to happen on the same day? I'll be sure to set aside 2hrs and 33mins of my time for all the wizardly magic tomorrow.

Say Cheese

July 26 is family day at the Houston Center for Photography so bring the youngins' out for a good time. The kids are able to get in on the act with some cool photo based activities set up around the gallery. Some of the activities include, frame making, sunprints, digital portraits, family portraits, and much more. All projects will be ready, willing, and able to take home the same day. What's the cost? It's Free!

Saltimbanco

Which means to jump on a bench in Italian. Saltimbanco will be at the Toyota Center for 9 shows beginning July 22-26. I sure wish my daughter was a bit older so that we could both enjoy and clinch in pain watching the brilliant contortionist. If I shall make my way to the Toyota Center, be sure that I will use my student ID for a discount.

Attention: Moms, Dads, and Nannies

McDonalds is holding Free Coffee Mondays to market its coffee and show consumers that McDonalds coffee is much better than it once was.

McDonalds Free Coffee Monday will be held from now until August 3 at participatingMcDonalds locations from 7am to 7pm. Customers will receive a free 7 oz iced Mocha or an 8 oz hot McCafe Mocha. Me encanta.

Mission to Mars

I've always been fascinated by the fourth planet Mars. Even more so present day since scientists believe Mars once had water flowing through the planet from signs of physical geography that appear like riverbeds and canals. Fueling the belief that Mars possibly sustained life once upon a time.

To my delight the Houston Health Museum has a killer exhibit going on until Sep 7, 2009 where kids and adults alike can get a Mars overload. I'm looking forward to experiencing how it will be to walk and move under Martian gravity with their Walking on Mars station. If you plan on going use this coupon to save 1/2 off a second ticket when you buy one at regular price.

Primigi, Naturino, Aster..Oh My!

I was stoked to find out PiperLime was having their Lime Tag Sell this event allows you to save up to 50% off very trendy brands such as Aster. I'm smitten over their yellow mary janes, originally $75.00 now on sale for $44.99. They look even better now. And if that's not enough greatness, PiperLime offers free shipping and free return.

Stepped in my local Salvation Army on Washington Avenue today and found two great books from Disney: Bambi, and 5-Minute Stories about Friendship. Under any other circumstances I would have passed these books up, being that I'm not a huge fan for Disney titles. However I couldn't pass the price of only 99 cents. Outrageous. The books are in brand new condition, not a crease on the spine, surely that will change. I'm glad my daughter and I were able to find these books and give them a good home. There were plenty of good titles still left. Go take a look.

Color Wonder Heros

100% mess free markers for your emerging artist. This miracle marker writes only on special color wonder paper, which is an additional cost but keeping your walls, carpet, and clothing free from your child's artistic expression, is priceless. You can also get finger paints, and watercolors from the Color Wonder family. The wonders of Crayola never cease to amaze me.

2 for 1 Sundays

Now until Sep 07, 2009 everyone can take advantage of the 2 for 1 admission deal the Houston Children's Museum is offering on Sundays. Hopefully with this bargain there will be less of a crowd than on free family nights offered every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. It's a mad house.

Owls in all their glory

I'm a huge sucker for overly adorable felt hair clips, so evidently i went nutso when i saw this trio of googly eyed hooters on Etsy. You get all three with your choice of clip for $9.99. Right on.

School box friends

What's school without these adorable eco-friendly matryoshka resembling wood pencil sharpeners from Green heart. A little pricey at five bucks a pop, but your funds continue to support the good cause Green heart has going on in the name of Eco-Fair trade, which "supports sustainable community development by ensuring that the artisans making the products are paid fair living wages."
$5.00 is not bad at all. I'll take all take three.

Do the hippy hippo shake

Eric Herman is a genius. His simple lyrics are great. My daughter and I dance around the house doing silly animal moves to this song about three times a day. Yet she always wants to do the funky chicken a fourth time because three times is a crime, but momma can't any more. Not only does this number burn calories it teaches the kiddos about various animals and their movements. Wonderful, this song is going to stick with me for the rest of the day.

Over The Top

Are you ready for the whimsical, zany, and unpredictable magic the Ringling Bros & Barnum Bailey Circus brings to town? I am. Starting July 15, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. until July 26, we can dance like an animal ( like I don't do this every day), watch dogs whoosh through the air, and witness fantastical Chinese acrobats propelling through the arena. Don't forget to hook your baby up with their first free circus voucher, you have until their first birthday to register. This voucher allows your child to enter free into one of their shows. There's no expiration date on the voucher, and it takes about 12 weeks to get to your mailbox. Get started here.

Countries In a Box

India, Japan, and even the Middle East, your kiddo can have fun putting together other nationalities in this eco-friendly puzzle in a box, It includes six wooden people to fit into the puzzle space. The most radical part of all is that The Green Heart shop supports Golden Palm International In Sri Lanka (makers of this unique puzzle), whose philosophy is to provide employment for people in rural areas of the country. Pick one up here.

Hidden Gems

It was time to buy my daughter new sandals so naturally I went to Stride Rite. She's been wearing sandals from there so I thought it would be a quick transaction. However, all I got was boring, boring, boring. Same styles/colors since my daughter was born, sorry to say. Went into Payless ShoeSource and was blown away with their selection and modern designs. I picked up a pair of SmartFit lime green sandals for $12.99 unbelievable. And in my opinion, lime green makes any outfit pop. The sandals are fresh and durable.
You can get the SmartFit berry color on sale now for $6.99 here.

Misha Lulu My Friend Infant Tee

Awesome tee for the little ones, I personally enjoy the greatness that comes from Misha Lulu's designs. Even better, you can get this tee on sale for $15.99 here.
